Congratulations to our athlete of the month for March, Tori Goulart! Tori is a national-level dragon boat athlete, who started training with us in January 2014. She is a naturally strong athlete and had a great debut in the 2014 CrossFit Open. In 2015, she managed to climb over 250 places in the Canada East standings, despite competing against a much tougher pool of athletes this year.
Tori has boasted very impressive strength numbers this year, including a 315 deadlift and bench press triple at 155lbs! As impressive as her raw strength numbers are, perhaps even more impressive has been her recent accomplishments in the gymnastics movements, including an emotional first muscle-up during this year’s open.
As impressive as Tori is physically as an athlete, she is equally impressive with her mentality. She always brings a bright smile with her to the gym. During the open, she cheered just as loudly for others’ success as she did for her own. She does the little things that make a coach happy, like always signing in and showing up a few minutes early for classes. Tori has a strong understanding for where she is as an athlete and good grasp for what it will take to bring her performance to the next level.
Tori, you have been a pleasure to coach since day 1 and we are very excited to see you continue to blossom into a terrific athlete in the sport of fitness.
From all of us at Royal City, congratulations on being our March Athlete of the Month!
