For those who have not yet heard, we will be running a Paleo challenge, starting this coming Monday. In help for preparation our nutrition expert Kathryn O’Brien will be hosting a free information seminar for you guys on Sunday at 9pm. She will be chatting about meeting the challenges of high volume training with a clean diet and answering any questions you have. Here is a some information on Kathryn…
Kathryn completed her Honours BA in Psychology at McMaster University before heading to Seattle’s Bastyr University to complete her Masters of Science in Nutrition. Her studies had a focus on nutritional science, exercise physiology, biochemistry and counselling, she also benefited from whole foods cooking classes. The end result is a comprehensive knowledge of nutrition combined with its practical application in the creation of meal plans based on real food. Since graduation Kathryn has continued her research in the nutritional management of stress and inflammation. Both conditions play major roles in our performance and well-being, this is particularly crucial to elite athletes. Kathryn has worked with athletes across many sports and levels including the NHL, AHL, University, High School and Paralympic Sport. Her approach focuses on using real food, in the right amount at the right time to produce the results you are looking for. Continual evolution of her own nutritional knowledge is a passion for Kathryn and when her head isn’t buried in the latest nutritional journal you’ll find her in the kitchen creating new recipes, on the ice playing hockey or biking around Guelph with her son.
